How To Lose Weight & Gain Energy Throughout The Holidays!
Do you feel like you are destined to gain weight every year from Thanksgiving to New Years? That does not have to be the case anymore. I've come up with a few ideas to help you be cognizant of your eating habits throughout the holidays. The best defense is a strong offense, so get prepared now!! Here are some other tips for getting through the season not only avoiding weight gain but seeing weight loss.
- If you have not started on an exercise plan, then the first step is to get started.
- Even though it is tempting to give up on your exercise program to go to fun holiday parties, remember it is the most important time of the year to keep moving!!
- Remember that holiday is just one day and allow your self to eat the traditional food on the holi"day" and not the whole week or month.
- You can make up for a feast of rich, higher-fat foods with lighter, lower-fat, meals for the days before and after the holiday.
- Plan ahead for parties and celebrations. Have a salad, light soup, or fruit before you leave the house to take the edge off your hunger.
- Have a glass of water between each alcoholic drink and of course keep the alcoholic drinks to a minimum.
- Fill up on the vegetables and leave the potato chips and rolls for the other guests.
- If you have to have dessert, chose one and not 2 or 3 desserts.
- And back to exercise, make it a family affair, get the kids out and go for a walk, bike ride, or take them to the park. Just stay off the couch as much as possible.
