When you are under stress, your body secretes cortisol. Cortisol is a stress hormone that is secreted by the adrenal glands and is associated with glucose metabolism, regulation of blood pressure, and insulin release. These 3 things are why it is so important to keep your stress level to a minimum.

- Make a List of the things that cause you the most stress. Write them down, analyze the level of stress they cause you as well as how it causes you stress.
- Take control by deciding which things you can do something about and what is out of your control.
- Learn to say "No" - this will take some practice, but don't feel like you have to commit to things you do not want or have to do.
- Don't Expect Perfection from yourself or others. For some things, an OK job is just fine. Learn to be able to determine which things are most important which leads to our next step.
- Practice setting limits - The key is to set priorities. Decide what is the most important for you as well as your family. Set aside for those things whether its exercise, family meals, fun time, or retirement planning.
